In addition to a strong academic research background and public health experience, Lakshini has over ten years of experience in healthcare communications and medical education. She is passionate about transforming complex science into compelling stories that drive better treatment outcomes. She writes widely and has extensive experience in neurology, rare diseases, gene therapy,  and mental health. Earlier this year she set up her freelancing business, MedComm Matters, and partners with international, industry-leading, integrity-driven medical communications agencies, pharmaceutical companies, and biotech start-ups. She has worked with global clients, namely in the UK, the US, and the EMEA and APAC regions, successfully delivering strategic, scientific, and commercial programmes across the communications spectrum. A true scientist at heart, Lakshini holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Auckland.
